About the Band:

What Elephant? is an alt-music duo whose sound hops across genres and fuses textures, from hypnotic dance beats to melodic story songs.

Upon formation in 2024, the band received immediate critical acclaim. Spin Magazine raved, "We haven't heard a band like this before." Later, it was clarified that they had, in fact, not heard of the band and the comment was a misprint. But the lads knew what they were saying: "You guys have it." When reaching out to Spin for an interview, they spoke with a receptionist who gushed, "We don't know who you guys are. This is very unusual. I'm going to hang up now." A mercurial rise to fame for two humble kids from northeastern Pennsylvania. An elephant in the room for America's new favorite sons? What elephant, indeed...

Formerly two-thirds of local outfit The Human Beings, the band consists of David Uffner (singer / multi-instrumentalist) and Matt Simoncavage (drummer / producer). They have revamped some of their previous band's tracks for inclusion in this new project: a selection of songs from the album In the Ten Worlds and an instrumental mixtape known as [music for] Washing Dishes. Their first official full-length album, Water, has been recorded and will be released this summer.
